Security Operatives Shoot Students During Protest In Calabar.(Graphic Photos)

Yesterday, the Nigerian police reportedly dispersed some peaceful protesters forcefully in Calabar, Cross-River. According to reports, the University of Calabar UNICAL students were protesting over the alleged absconding of the money promised them by the governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Asu Okang - before they were attacked with teargas and also allegedly shot at by the security operatives.

The incident reportedly happened at Murtala Mohammed Highway Calabar by Transcorp Hotel as they gathered at the U. J. Esuene stadium during the Children’s Day programme.

At least, three students were reported to have been shot with various degrees of injuries by the security operatives...

Lagos Police Use CCTV To Arrest Notorious Pickpocket In Oshodi (photos)

The newly deployed mobile CCTV camera procured by the Lagos State Government for the operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad has recorded its first surveillance arrest. The suspect was arrested in Oshodi while the Mobile CCTV was being deployed at Oshodi to monitor the area. The suspect, Emmanuel Alowonle, an 18-year old, a native of Ondo State, disclosed during interrogation that he came to Lagos about two years ago and work as a bus conductor in the area. Politics Nigeria learned that Alowonle was arrested after stealing from another commuter's handbag on the pedestrian walkway. RRS officers spotted Emmanuel in the crowd picking from a passer-by handbag through the mobile CCTV camera. The CCTV camera was jointly managed and put into use by both RRS operatives and technical assistance officers of the Lagos State Response Unit, (LRU). It is rumored that Jay Jay was a source of influence on Ronaldinho's style of play. A forty-year-old man, Isiya Inusa, on Thursday, confessed that he killed an okada rider because of his inability to pay the N100 fare. Isiya, who spoke in Hausa at the headquarters of Katsina State Police Command where he was paraded, said he attacked the rider along Kankara-Kabuki Road, in Katsina. He said, “Yes, I slaughtered him with my knife. I asked him to take me to Kabuki village from Kankara. He demanded N100 as fare. I did not tell him I did not have that money on me. “On the way, I brought out my knife and slaughtered him. The police later arrested me while riding on his (the victim) motorcycle.” Police sources gave the name of the victim as Al -Hasan Usani, aged 43. It was further learnt that Isiya actually tricked Al-Hasan into taking him to Kabuki village with a view to snatching the motorcycle.
